Silicone has very little holding power for something like that, I wouldn't waste the silicone. But if you really want this to be front-opening, there are other ways to do it.
I actually prefer top-opening myself, after having modified cabinets in the past to open in front, & successfully used them for a while. I added aluminum tracks w/ felt
strips in the bottom (for smoother sliding) & had plate glass doors made for sliding in the tracks. Super easy to lock securely: all it took was a hole drilled in the wood
cabinet on each side, & one sturdy peg pushed into each hole...nothing could slide the doors open but me.
