Tubs are easier, tanks are prettier but a little more work. I am a small breeder with a lot of animals, so my outlook is different. Tanks are not an option for me. Way too many animals and they have to be in racks. I don't have humidity issues because of the tubs and the fact that I live in Florida, so I never have had to measure it so what people are using for that purpose I don't know. The heat gun on the other hand is very helpful to have and they only cost a couple bucks.

Good point with measuring the surface temps. I never remember to type everything, hahhahaha.
OP, I know this seems like info overload, but I promise it gets easier. Once you have all the proper equipment and everything is dialed in it really is easy. At that point it's just spot cleaning, occasional deep cleans and daily equipment checks.
Don't let all this overwhelm you. Learn all you can. And when you get your NEXT snake you'll have everything ready before you bring the snake home. Much less stressful for you and the snake.
Keep asking questions and learn all you can.
