Would you still go see Lynyrd Skynyrd?

ok there's a groupon for 50% off Lynyrd Skynyrd tix. i have never seen them live and this is like supposed to be their last tour (for the umpteenth time). should i get tickets? would u go? have u seen them? w/ which line-up?

there's only 1 original member left - guitarist Gary Rossington but hey, they do have the Johnny (brother of OG frontman Ronnie Van Zant. RIP). how many of these old, rockin and touring bands are still worth seeing live?

I saw Ozzy back in September, in Dallas, just before he got sick and started cancelling shows. I say this in complete seriousness, at 70 years old, he put on the best live show I have ever seen.

Don't know how Skynyrd would be, but the fact remains, it's likely a once in a lifetime opportunity, these guys are all on their last legs, why not go scream along for the hell of it? What else have you really got to do that night?

Re: Would you still go see Lynyrd Skynyrd?

I saw them a few years back and they were "ok" but just"OK".
Johnny looks a lot like Ronnie but that's about it. I saw them about two weeks before Leon Wilkeson died
But hey 50% off it's all right

I'm 40 years old and still going to see concerts. I'm seeing Judas Priest and Slayer next month. I also saw Ozzy Last August when he was 70, and had a great time.

If you like the band, and you're into their music, you have nothing to lose. Its going to cost you, what, like $40 or less with groupon. And what's the alternative, sitting at home watching TV or something like that? So you go, have a few drinks, rock out to some music you love, I see no downside.

Worst case you have a just OK time, but at least you can say you took the opportunity when you had the chance.

I will go and watch anyone. I saw them a few years back I think opening for Kid Rock. They were OK. They are basically a cover band at this point. Audience was pretty much a bunch of old rednecks like me loaded on beer. If that doesn't bother you, you will probably have fun.
Honest, I only need one more ...

I'm older than you and still love concerts. Although they are not like they were back in the 70s & 80s.

Yeah, the concerts I go to now aren't like they were back in the '90s. Maybe that's for the best though. Things used to get pretty rough.

Nowadays, it seems to have gone in the other direction and are too tame for a metal show, at least by my lights.

Theoretically they could go on forever. I mean there's only one original member left and he's not even the singer. He could just retire and be replaced.
