    Getting back into snakes

Hello all. Its been many years since I've owned snakes and ill be getting back into the swing of things this month. I've previously had one of each kingsnake, normal BP, and RTB. I had to rehome all 3 due to military service.

I've passed the time over the years with hobbies in beer brewing, guns, ammo reloading, and my 6 leucomelas dart frogs. I'm active on message boards for those hobbies and I look forward to reading all the posts here.

I'm looking to pick up a mojave at the next cleveland reptile show. I've already ordered an AP T10, VE-200, RBI 80W RHP, and all the other goodies. A lot nicer stuff than I used to have!

See you all around here, and maybe at the next reptile show!

Welcome back to the hobby!! I took a few years off as well before getting back into keeping snakes a few years back. You're definitely right, the equipment is so much better than it used to be!!

I look forward to seeing you around the forum.

...and thank you for your service!

    Re: Getting back into snakes

Welcome! I am fairly new to the forum too and I am also slowly getting back into keeping snakes for the exact same reason you are. When I was in the military and I had to deploy and didn't have anyone to keep my snakes for me until I returned so I had to find them new homes.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of great people here. Tons of good info. This is also my second go around with snakes and this forum helped me out last time as well. I definitely feel way better informed them I did when I got my first over a decade ago on an impulse. This time should be so much smoother.

I completely agree. I'm much more prepared than I was 10 years ago with my impulse PetsMart purchase. Now that I'm older I can afford the nicer/new equipment and my husbandry will be on point.

Well here she is. Picked her up at the All Cleveland Reptile Show today. Smaller female, haven't had a chance to name or weigh her yet.

She was listed at a pewter mojave, what do you guys think? Not many full alien heads and the pattern fades out fast towards the belly. The color in the pictures is pretty spot on. Just a hint of tan in the light areas, and mostly black and gray.

Also, there is a lighter area near the rear of the left eye that looks like it covers the eye just a bit, and that is absent on the other eye. It is best seen in the balled up picture. Is this normal?
