Good news and bad news, but mostly good news.
Solana began a premature shed last week. Some of her body was shedding, but most wasn't. Additionally, she got a little rug burn/had a little skin come off with the premature shed. It's a small spot, but I am keeping it dry and clean in her tank to ensure it doesn't get in infected. I did send pictures and speak with Don Soderberg and he said it would correct itself in a few shed cycles and not to worry; it happens.
I am not sure what precipitated the premature shed, but it's her first, so I will take it in stride. Don also said that she would have 1-2 more before returning to a normal shed cycle.
The good news is a few days of putting her in a moist box and all the shed came off fine yesterday along with eye caps, etc. It ended up a being a thorough shed, even if some came off early.
She looks stunning and I weighed her dry and she's 86G! Wow!
I have been feeding hopper mice (F/T - 8-12G) for a while and will continue to do so for some time. She has some size now and I don't need her growing too fast. Corn snakes are good about putting excess food towards growth, but I don't want to risk her becoming unhealthy. A little less food intake per meal (relative to size) is probably a good thing at this point. At 100-120G I'll move her up to weaned mice.
Below are some pictures.
