You are not alone. I am not sure how old you are, but one day you will learn the subtle art of not giving a ***. (There is a good book by that title, by the way).

People come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and conditions. It is normal for us to all be different from one another. 99% of us don't meet the ideal standards set by society. So just be you.

My daughter is 15. She was born with a disorder that has required several surgeries. She has some wicked cool scars on both knees from 3 surgeries (so far-- one more needed soon), and the way her skin heals, and because she's naturally tan, you can see those scars very clearly. She also has an "extra belly button" from a feeding tube that she lived with for 6 years. She owns it. She didn't at first, but now she wears a two piece to the pool and if people ask about her scars (usually little kids-- older kids/adults just stare), she tells them. You wouldn't believe how accepting people are. The kids are like "Oh cool!"
