Took him to the vet, got injectable antibiotics-did nothing--his infection spread to his sinuses--another injection of a different antibiotic-did nothing-sinuses got worse--massive swelling. Vet strongly recommended euthanasia. I told the Vet I would give him a bit more time (as antibiotics do nothing beneficial for a viral infection). He did fight the infection off after 6 months, he looks and sounds pretty rough (due to scarring) and for sure you won't be seeing any glamour photos of him, but, the infection was about 11 years ago.
