    Ah okay so it sounds like you have a thermometer and not a thermostat.

    A thermometer simply measures and reads temperature. A thermostat regulates your heat sources. Unplug your heat pad for now and please look into getting a thermostat ASAP.

    Jumpstart is a decent budget friendly thermostat to start with but keep in mind it's an on/off style thermostat.

    However if you can, I recommended getting a Herpstat from Spyder Robotics. Their proportional thermostats are top notch and very reliable with a very long life span! They've recently released more affordable models too!
