    Re: All my critters

    EL-Ziggy,

I can help out in the Lizard department if and when the time comes.

I currently have a BTS, three Leopard Geckos, a rhacodactylus leachianus (Leachie), and a rhacodactylus chahoua (Chewie), in addition to the snake crew. I also have had a Bearded Dragon who lived to the ripe old age (for a Beardie) of 11 (RIP George).

Any way I can help, please let me know.

    Again, awesome Snake Crew!

    Re: All my critters

Thanks Dave. I've been doing a little research but I'm sure I'll have lots of questions when the time comes. My son is pretty persistent when he wants something.

@ Craig- Thanks for the kind words brother. That little guy is the best thing that's ever happened to me. He's growing up too fast though.

    Re: All my critters

    Nice picture!

Well, remember, there are many types of Geckos!

Leopard Geckos are the most common. However, Rhacodactylus are Geckos too and are pretty neat! Just ask Ferry or Ezzy! However, I wouldn't necessarily recommend a Leachie for a youngster. They can, and will, be very cage defensive. Ezzy tried to take my finger off today! I use welders gloves from home depot (best $25 I ever spent and a lot less than stitches ). However, 90%, they are total puppy dogs when out, especially if you work with them. If you get them younger, or buy from a reputable breeder, who knows his/her animals, they can point you in the right direction. However, as with Ezzy, even totally calm Leachies, will PROTECT THIS HOUSE! I just use the gloves, grab her, and she snaps right out of it and I can immediately use my other hand to hold her with zero issues. However, she will go after the glove from time to time and that might freak out a young guy like your son. However, it's no different than tap/hook training a boa.

Chewies (like Ferry) and Crested Geckos, etc. tend not to do that at all.

Anyway, I digressed, many cool geckos, and happy to help there as well! Or not, whatever works for you EL-Ziggy. I take no offense!

Nice picture of you and your son Ziggy! I’ve taken my boy to the Tellus Science Museum and he loved it. Great that you both share a passion for reptiles.

My kids are rather young and think I have an obsession with plants... aka the big boxes in my room full of plants and well... other things.

Reslly hard to pick a fave you have such diversity and beauty there. I like your approach, why choose one when you can choose 11!!

may I ask what happened to that cal king and the mbk...?

Great pics of your collection el Ziggy
Nice to see you sharing your hobby with your son too.
I had my first rat snake at 13 I had her for 17yrs and didn't have any for a while after while my kids where young . then when my son turned 13, he asked for one and I let him and that's what got me back into keep snakes again

Thanks Dubs- 11 could easily have been 13. We were tight on space in the apartment and I'd made deal with my better half that I wouldn't add any more critters so I decided to rehome the kings to add more carpets. As much as I loved my kings I realized that I prefer keeping larger snakes. If kings got as large as carpets or bulls I'd have more of them too. They're definitely my favorite smaller snake. After I upgrade my enclosures I might even get another king or two. Don't tell wifey that though.
