ok so i made this vid awhile back. back when the city was supposed to tear down the viaduct before Big Bertha, our ginormous tunneling machine broke and delayed everything. today, Friday, Jan. 11, 2019 - the viaduct will be open for the last time.
backstory: i had wanted to take one last ride on my city’s Alaskan Way Viaduct. driving north on this double-decker freeway offers spectacular views of the city of Seattle – you get the city skyline coming at you in 3-D on the right and on the left, our “Squidport” waterfront, bay and majestic snowcapped Olympic Mountains in the background.
anyway the viaduct is old, falling apart and a deathtrap, similar to the portion of the 880 double-decker freeway that collapsed during the big San Francisco/Bay Area earthquake. the city was scheduled to tear down the viaduct this summer but didn’t. whatever.
anyway i thought that i would record this drive. i was just driving aimlessly with no real direction.
so if u want a small tour of my city, check out this vid. (some city sights are annotated in text bubbles.)
turn it up! my music mix pop, rock and electronic.
and the vid continues here. the cam somehow got some cool trippy water effect.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqXlWs3SOyU
this was my route:
thanks for checking it out.
