Re: Im all about them organic bananas
Nice addition! I'd lean towards sterling but guess time will tell.

Ive never seen either in person to compare, sellers photo I could see why was being cautious, seeing her in person she's definitely more Super looking, but again nothing to compare against in person.

Re: Im all about them organic bananas
BPs come in SO MANY colors/morphs and each are truely gorgeous. I personally fell in love with a banana morph and paid $300 for him! "WHAT DID I JUST DO" I asked myself as I left the store!!! So my concern is that with each new version of them, it creates a high price. And yesterdays flavor is no longer the going color. Are we creating animals just for money and/ or are we creating an overabundance of BPs? Will there be those that are no longer desired? IDK.....I wonder if we will overbreed them like the pit bull. I love my boy but the typical color would make just as good a snake

I think there are folks in it for the money, but there are a lot of us in the hobby for love of the snakes. I’ve added 7 snakes to my collection this year, all of them different bp morphs (in order added...pied, lemonblast, BEL, dragonfly, banana pinstripe, mojave, and banana mojave). I don’t particularly have any plans to breed anytime soon, but would like to pair my two bananas when my female is of appropriate age and size...or not...I’m not set on it. The pied and BEL have been on my wish list since they both cost more than my car. Finally came down to a price I can afford. I have a love of anything with pinstripe in it, and have developed a love of the bananas.
Reptiles are becoming more popular as pets, so I think there is room for growth. At the same time, there are markets that are saturated with ball pythons almost to the exclusion of other species. I think that’s where forums like this come into play, helping new breeders really look at the hobby and make sure they are ready for the commitment. It isn’t for everyone, and definitely not for a quick buck, and you may have animals for months...or years...if they don’t sell. Unfortunately there is good and bad in every aspect of life, our hobby/passion included. As for bp’s specifically, they’re great ambassadors for the hobby: they’re pretty, relatively small, generally good disposition, and something for everybody when it come to color and pattern. The only drawback is their husbandry needs to be on point, which unfortunately not all new keepers understand.

Congrats on the new baby! I really love my banana BP, he's just a really great personality--- and that's why I got him. The beautiful color is a bonus.

I do agree with concerns that the market is saturated with BPs right now. I went to a reptile expo and 99% of the stock was BP's, and I was thinking that they won't all sell, and what about the normals-- will anyone buy them?
I adopted mine as pets, not to breed. I think that's why most people get them. My daughter has a pinstripe, which I guess was all the rage but is now being replaced with other morphs. In the meantime we have a snake that will live for up to 20 years, even when it's not the coolest morph on the block.
I would feel more comfortable with the breeding for color thing if we were talking about fish or rats or something that doesn't live that long.
2 BP's, one ratsnake, 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 small caged birds, 7 chickens, and a toddler in a pear tree
