    Tubs

Thinking again about switching my bp over to a tub in a few months as I've been having a lot of trouble with humidity now that I've added the CHE. So I'm wondering what size tubs and what brands everybody uses? I'm looking around online a bit and I can't find anything that seems quite right
    Thanks for reading! x

No snakes here yet but I think I'm going to start in tubs for ease of climate consistency. I'll be monitoring your thread.

    Re: Tubs

I use 28-32 quart sterilite tubs for my adult males. It really depends on how big he or she is right now?
I have a rack set up so I use heat tape with the herpstat, of course. How many snakes are you changing over to tubs?????

He's still a juvenile, about 6 months old, and it's just him. He's currently in a 24x18 exo terra and he's doing well in that size but the humidity is just difficult lol

I'm a fan of the Hefty brand latching tubs because they come in clear and opaque grey and they share 2 common dimensions between sizes, but I use them in a rack.

Really any suitable dimension, flat 28-34 quart tub should be fine for him as an adult. And either that or a 15-16 quart tub for his current size. If you go with a 28-34 so you won't need to switch him to a larger tub later, be sure to clutter it up with hides and decor to keep him at ease.

Sterilite seems to be the brand most people use, I just went with the Hefty as they're better for my rack design. But I do feel like they are slightly thicker material and therefore a little sturdier.

Which tubs have the clearest side? Looking for an almost clear plexiglass side as the others can be solid.

Why not just make adjustments, they're fabulous vivs and having a clear view of these beautiful creatures is high up on my list ..

You may have tried things in which case please forgive me .... just I've managed the humidity in them many times over the years

I've tried a few things, he's got lots of sphagnum moss in there, the screen is almost completely covered (aside from where the CHE is placed) and I've been misting daily
He's only been in there a few weeks, it's an amazing tank and I'm so happy I was able to get my hands on one, and he's doing fine (aside from the humidity issues) but he obviously doesn't use the space lol. I'm going to be getting another snake in a few months that I think would get more out of the tank than my bp (most likely a corn), and nothing's official yet but I think switching him to a tub might be better for him in the long run

I use the 32-qt Sterilite ClearView (transparent tub and lid) with latches - https://www.target.com/p/sterilite-1...l/-/A-13794492 - and, as RXLReptiles mentioned, I have it fairly cluttered up with fake plants and such since Ignis is only 4 months old. He seems pretty comfortable, so as he gets bigger, I'll just remove/rearrange stuff as needed.

With that said, I did also purchase and prepare the 15-qt version of the tub, just in case. Some juveniles seem to be more particular about their living space than others. I've been pretty fortunate with Iggy, who has adapted readily to just about everything so far, and did not need to be transitioned up from the smaller tub, but I know I can't necessarily count on that for the next snake, haha.

The plastic is durable quality/thickness, but still clear enough for me to easily see my snake (albeit with his colors muted) as well as the Acurite temp/humidity readings. For reference, please see below image documenting Iggy's persistent attempts to push over said Acurite.

Both the sterilite and hefty tubs are nowhere near plexiglass clear. I included a pic of my pastave bee, Praline in her tub for reference to clarity on the hefty tubs. She's only an inch away from the plastic in that pic. (anxiously awaiting her dinner)

If I remember correctly there's a company that makes grey tubs with a plexi window on one side, but they're made for racks and don't have a lid.

The other option is you could build something like my display enclosure with an old book shelf. It takes some work, but it came out great.

Here's a pic of it. It's super easy to build and only cost $20-25 per shelf for plexi, track material, and the slide lock. Each shelf is about the size of a 20 long though, so it's not a permanent solution.
