It really caught me off-guard too...their sense of smell is impressive, and I've lived with a lot of rattlesnakes & NEVER seen one do what that one did-
fear & self-defense to the max! All for a wimpy little milk snake that had NO interest much less any lethal capability, but instincts are there for a reason.
