Just an idea if someone is looking for a hide and dont want to spend $30+ on a large
So i was in a store the other day looking for a hide for my big girl. Any hide she would fit in would have costed me $30+. So i decided why not check the dollar store. I bought a solid color container 2 dollars. sand paper 2 dollars. I cut a hole sanded it down. ended up with something that would have cost me 30+ dollars. for 5 dollars lol. Mind you i got to trim it a little so its not so tall but its just an example of what you can do to save money.

Yup, there is a lot you can DIY when it comes to reptile hides and enclosures.
I have a super large BP in a Display cage. I wanted a big enough hide, but something that looked a bit "naturalistic". So I found this HUGE plastic flower pot at Lowes. I needed the big one, so that it was wide enough once I shortened it.
Cut it down about 5 inches then cut an opening in it, sanded down the sharp edges, put something on top, and presto !

Cat litter boxes also make great hides and can often be found at the dollar store. Diff. sizes, too.
Good for you, for coming up with a custom hide at a great price !

Reptile basics has awesome pre-fabbed hide boxes for $3-10
I use these exclusively and have been super happy with them.

I use a wood burning kit to “cut” my holes in plastic containers. Since it’s melting the plastic, the edges are left nice and smooth. The only thing to keep in mind is to do this with lots of ventilation. The resulting smoke smells awful, and is probably toxic. Luckily it dissipates quickly and the finished product has no remaing odor.
