For the hot end of my ball python cages, I set the thermostat to keep temps between 88-90F. My thermostat probe is about an inch off the bottom of the cage and I’m using radiant heat panels (RHP) for heat. If you are using an under tank heater (UTH), the temperature probe for your thermostat needs to be between the heat tape/mat and the bottom of the cage. I’ve tecently started spot checking surface temperatures with a heat gun due to the advice from the fine folks here on this site.

The hygrometer can go pretty much anywhere, depending on the type - stand alone vs stick on. For those cages where I use one, I try to set it off to the cool side so it isn’t under or affected by my RHP.
