'Hunger' behavior related to new kitten?

We got a kitten recently, and he's been all around my bp's tub(which has air holes poked throughout). BP doesn't mind at all, he just chills there. Today I fed him, and every single time after he's eaten in the past, he goes and hides for a day or two after. But this time, he's active and tracking along the tub, tongue flicking the whole time.

My question- do you guys think this is from the kitten's smell? Is he thinking, "mmm, I smell a tasty treat"? Or coincidence? He should be full- he's eating small 'small rats'(so small rats, but on the lower end of small). We don't weigh him, but if he continues acting weird after feeding we'll be picking up a scale to make sure he's getting enough.

Another note- when I fed him today, for the first time in a long time he TOTALLY missed on the rat and nearly got my hand(and I was holding the rat by the tail with long tweezers). Maybe related, maybe not?

Of course the two will NEVER meet and I scrub my hands to make sure they don't share any bacteria and such.
