Heat
I recently got a new hide for my bp on her warm side it is always between 88/91 when she is in the hide. But when she goes into her other hide it drops down to 83 then eventually rises back up. I think when she goes in the hide she goes over the probe and lays on it which causes it to heat up, so basically I don’t think she has a warm hide right now . I was thinking I could get the probe to stick to the top of the hide, but I know some tapes are harmful to bps is regular paper tape harmful to? But will that temp be accurate because I know they get there heat from there belly and if I do that the probe won’t be on the ground. Her knew hide is smaller and tighter which I know they like better. I could put the old one back in and there would be more space for the probe and she may not possibly lay on it. Which one is my best option or do you guys have any better ideas.

Re: Heat
Just thought of this but would burying the probe work?

Re: Heat
Measure the temp of the glass under the hide with a temp gun.

Re: Heat
What kind of heat is being controlled by the probe that you're talking about? If it the UTH, the probe should be between the UTH and the enclosure. If it's for a heat lamp/CHE, I'd hang it down but not let it touch the ground. You can secure it with tape OUTSIDE the terrarium.
In regards to the heat, BPs can get some of their heat from belly heat but you want to make sure that their ambient temps are within acceptable range (around 78-83). Even with belly heat, low ambient temps can cause sickness.

Are you talking about a thermoSTAT probe or thermoMETER probe?
And PLEASE DO NOT USE TAPE

I have a heat pad that is on the glass outside the tank, and I’m using the probe that came with it.

If im reading this right then its your thermometer Probe your talking about not your thermostat?? .... when they lay on the probe for a Thermometer there body temp registers. So if she/he is 83 then the thermometers reads 83 until their body heats up...
unless ive totally misunderstood what your saying.

Sorry if I didn’t explain it good. I have a heat pad that is under the tank the heat pad is plugged into the thermostat. The thermostat is set at 91 degrees. There is a probe attachted to the thermostat and the probe lays on top of the coconut shavings in the hide. When she goes in the hide she goes over the probe and heats it up, so it says that it 91 in the hide when she is in there. But I don’t think that’s the actual temp because when she leaves the hide it drops to 83 then heats back up to 91.

the thermostat probe should not be in the enclosure; it should be sandwiched between the Uth and bottom of the tank. You may need to set it a few degrees higher to get the 90 degree temp you’re looking for inside he cage.
