Drago the boa

I definitely plan to get him a pvc cage. One step at a time with the girlfriend lol. But I have a problem so I got him a couple days ago and the previous owner told me he is due to eat this weekend that it’s been two weeks so I went and bought him a medium rat today. He has no interest in him at all the rat will literally walk up and smell his face and drago just stares at him and flicks his tongue so now I’m stuck with this rat to try agian in a few days I’m sure with the move and stuff he still might be stressed but what do I do with the rat I know I can’t just leave him in thier with Draco and I have no where to keep the rat at...

So two days ago Draco climbed into his water bowl and stayed thier most of the night next day I checked he pooped so I was like ok good that’s what it was but ever since then the past two days he has been spending a lot of time in thier... why? Nothing has changed

Maybe humidity is too low & he's going into a shed? (did you check for mites?) What happened with the rat? (was he eating f/t before? most boas take easily, live
rats are dangerous to snakes...they can kill them if the snake doesn't feel like eating & kill them first)

He was eating live before that’s why I got live and I took it out and kept it in a temp cage and every few days I would drop it back in with the lights off for about an hour each time until he ate it I only had to offer it three times he ate it third time. That was last Friday

And I did look for mites but I’ve never seen them in person so not exactly sure what to look for

Mites will be tiny black/brown specks on the snake, in the water bowl after soaking, or in the cage (harder to spot unless you’re using white towels/paper. The easiest way to check is to take a damp white paper towel and run it over the snake. If you have black specks on the towel, you generally have mites.

What are the temperatures in the cage (low and high)? If the snake is trying to cool off, that will get them in the water bowl. Also, if the snake is trying to hide and doesn’t have an actual hide, that will cause them to get into the water bowl. My adult female boa usually lays out in the open, but every once in a while she’ll get under her hide.

I took his hide out cause it was really big and he hasn’t went into it once and I needed it for a new arrival and it was the only one that I had that was big enough for her to go in now I’m afraid to put it back in with him and it’s 80 degrees 90 on hot side

I just took him out of the water and wiped him down and nothing came off of him. That water was freezing cold.
