I keep my male BP in a 40 gallon long (I think). I wish I had a 40 gallon breeder for him, but he's only just under 3 feet and probably won't get too much bigger.
All in all I say go for it if you're getting a male, but I'd get a 40 gallon breeder if you want a female.
