57% grwoth in six weeks

Our royal is having a growth spurt. I have a nice digital kitchen tear scale so I started weighing him post shed, just prior to feeding. Six weeks ago he weighed in at 118 grams and now he's at 186 grams. That's about a 57% increase in weight! :shock: Until a few weeks ago I had been feeding him every 5-7 days on 1-2 small mice. Since then he's made the switch to rat pups, which are a lot fattier, so I expect his growth to continue for some time.

I was just a little surprised so I thought I would like to share.

That's awesome! Young ball pythons have an amazing capacity for growth. Some of my hatchlings from the summer are already over 600 grams!

I wish that I had weighed all his meals too, then I could figure out what percentage of his intake gets converted directly to body weight.

You would still need the before weight of the meal. Weight of the snake and weight of poop tell you nothing.
