    If he eats rats and mice I'd offer both. My kings were very consistent eaters when it came to mice and chicks. They were hit or miss with rats. Thats a great thing about snakes that don't get too big. You don't have to worry about transitioning them to rats. Kings can do just fine on mice their entire lives but I think they bulk up more on rats.
