How To Find A Good Vet?

I had two rescue ball pythons who came to me with RI. I took both of them to the same exotic hospital (they each saw different veterinarians though) but neither of them recovered after so much money spent. I'm trying to look into different vets to go to. I've been told to look for snake specialized vets but how do I do that? Do I just call and ask if they have any veterinarians who specialize in snakes? I'm skeptical because what if they bend the truth? I just want the best for these animals without breaking the bank in extensive care that doesn't even work.
    Thanks in advance.

Also, I didn't know where exactly to put this so I hope this is an appropriate topic to place this thread.

Well, one thing you can do is ask here!

If you live in New England I recommend the Odd Pet Vet in Weymouth, MA. They're relatively inexpensive and very experienced with reptiles, but snakes in particular. Highly recommended.

Fill out your location in your profile for starters, so if someone knows of a vet near you then they can let you know.

You may also find one here:

We don't know where you're located, but wherever that is, call the nearest zoo- they can probably recommend several veterinarians. Also search & contact any
herp. clubs in your area. I'm sorry that your 2 rescues didn't make it...that might have happened even with another vet, but I don't blame you for wondering
either...some places want business so badly that they are "willing to see" pets that they have little experience with.
