In my experience with adult it's always a 50/50 shot of them not eating, adult seems to take a lot longer to adjust to their new surrendering, easily going weeks to months with no food.

I had it happen with breeder loan animals that I received as well as an adult that I purchased.

All you can do is emulate the former owner's setup and be patient.
