I also cut mine to length so I can have some fairly straight sections of branch for any of the GTP enclosures I've done. I don't know what kind of cage you have, but I make little brackets for mine for easy removal. I basically get little hooks that I can screw into the cage then I screw a hole in the branches so they fit on the hooks, that way they just lift right out when needed.
