    Feeding

    i got my ball python about 2.5 months my best guess shes between 6 to 8 months. now shes asking me for food every 2 to 4 days im feeding a rat pup 21-22 grams she weighs 248 g before i was feeding once every 7 to 9 days if i offered to early she would reject now she looks at me from her hide all the time in the evening i don't know if shes hungry or she just likes this rats the chart says to feed 20 to 29 till 350 grams my pups are 21-22 shes about 1 3/4 inch girth i know if she does not grab the rat just right she wont be able to eat it. i fed her on june 26,june 30,july 4 and today shes looking at me like you got food?i don't know much about BP maybe she wants to stock up shes ready to go on a fast or what?
    my corn snake i had it since january 29 2018 she has not miss a feed since i had her even when she sheds any suggestions?

    I'd feed a pup every five days until she's big enough to go to weanlings, then offer a weanling rat every seven days.

    If you go by the 10 to 15% body weight rule, at 248 grams, a 21 or 22 gram rat pup isn't even 10% at this point, so it's likely that she is hungry. Realistically you should be offering a minimum of a 24 gram rodent, up to 37 grams at the very top of the range. Another good rule to go by is that the thickest part of the rodent matches the thickest part of the snake. (As an example, several of my snakes are in the 230 to 260 gram range. They all ate tonight, and the rats were between 30 and 33 grams.)
