    Your Ball Python's Biorhythm

This morning when I sprayed my ball python's enclosure just before his light turns on he shot me an angry glare (as usual when I spray him by accident). This made me curious since he is always awake when the light turns on.
The light turns on at 7 o'clock in the morning and turns of at 8:45 pm. He's usually awake at 8 o'clock (I can see his face peeking out) in the evening but he doesn't come out of his hide until 10 o'clock. Normally he then hides again at about 5 o'clock in the morning and starts sleeping at 8 am.

So I've been wondering: When is your ball python active/awake? Does it overlap with your day/night setup?

When they want to be one thing I learned about bps is expect the unexpected, most commonly I think it is night time the cruise but then again silly noodle will do what they want right? As long as your temps are on point and he isn't hungry I say let the noodle be silly , best wishes always

I don't use a day/night cycle, so can't weigh in there. My pythons are more active at night, but they're a BP and Borneo STP, so not the most active species to begin with.
My King and hognose are active throughout the day and night.

    Re: Your Ball Python's Biorhythm

Mine is usually up after 9pm, and I think she's still awake until sometime around 9am, which is two or three hours after her lights turn on. I notice that she'll be spinning around in a hide around that time, as if she just went into hiding right before I got up haha.

Every once in awhile but very rarely, i'll see them cruising during the day. I just have natural lighting for them, and the LED lights from the other enclosures also seems to keep them thinking it's not "totally night time yet". But mostly, they cruise at night after all the lights are out, after 11pm or so.

But they're still animals and not robots, they'll do whatever they want LOL.

Olive is usually only active at night on Thursdays because she's starting to get hungry for Friday ( Which is feeding day ) other than that she only pokes her head out to see what I'm doing at night. I love it.

All of mine, regardless of species, vary. Some sleep all day and party all night, some think they have day jobs. When they cruise around pretty much non-stop, I know it's feeding time even if not scheduled. Some of them will also just come out and stare at me or push against the tubs to tell me they are bored and want to roam.

I have only had Astrid for a week, but in the last few days she has started coming out and cruising her tub just before dark and is still out when we go to bed at 10. She is hiding in the morning
