    I used to live in So Cal myself, in the high desert, which gets some cold temps in winter, & even a bit of snow now & then. When I brumated some of my
    snakes, I found that the floor in the closet of a closed-off bedroom was adequate & dark. It's not necessary or desirable that the temperatures approach
    40*, as refrigerators do; around 50* worked for mine.
