So I took George my sandboa to the vet today for a presumed RI. He was showing no signs at the time. It seems to be on and off, sometimes for a day or two he won't show any signs, then the next day he will again..
Anyway, she doesn't think it's a RI. She looked in his mouth, saw no bubbles, or redness or anything. I told her what he was doing (his throat kinda puffs up a bit, then he opens his mouth a little (sometimes a lot) and the puffiness goes down) She says it's probably this air sac that's in their throat, and it can puff up like that sometimes (I think she said if it got hurt? or maybe some snakes are just like that?), and she thinks he's just opening his mouth to relieve the pressure. Anyone heard of anything like this?
He's quite active and alert, the tines of his tongue aren't stuck together, and I haven't seen any bubbles or mucous or anything, so I'm kinda scratching my head.
She told me to write down every time he shows the signs for a week, then to call her and tell her.
