My carpets are my garbage disposal snakes, but they typically don’t eat when they’re in shed. As others have said, nothing to worry about there.
You don’t need the “jungle” in your search terms when looking for information, just “carpet python”, as they almost all have the same care - the exceptions are Diamonds, who need cooler temps.
“The Complete Carpet Python” is a great book, I highly recommend it! Us carpet python junkies can be found in the Morelia sub-section down a couple lines from this one. 
Yurlunggur/Bruce, my JCP, is 3 years old, a bit over 1500 grams, and 6-7 ft long (getting a length measurement is a challenge). He looooves the jungle gym and basking shelf in his AP cage, and I rarely see him down on the floor. Definitely give yours something to climb on!
