That was my thought too...that it was deliberately abandoned where kids would find it & take it home. Pretty lousy thing to do, dumping pets of any kind.
It's SO easy to make a connection to someone who is willing & has the means to take it in, without resorting to abandonment. And yes, it reflects poorly on
reptile keepers, already stereo-typed more than dog & cat owners, who show vastly more irresponsibility overall than do reptile keepers.
