Can snakes sense bugs?
I was a little worried about Lucy because she had spent a few days in her hide and seemingly not come out at all. I was up all night last night and I didn't even see her poke her snoot out. I thought she might just be decompressing after a trip to the vet and let her be.
Well, today I flipped on the light and a little German roach scuttled across her substrate! I scooped it out lickety split. I replaced her water and, noticing I had woken her, reached a finger into the hide to give her a little tickle. As I closed the lid she stuck her face out, seemed to survey the tank, and happily slithered out for a drink.
Could she have noticed the bug and been scared? Or am I just being silly?

I'm sure they can feel the vibration of bugs, depending on the size. She wouldn't be scared of a roach though, she could possibly be heading into shed if she's hiding and not coming out.

Ball pythons can be found in termite mounds in Africa. I would think if bugs bothered them, that would be an absolute nightmare for them...
