    Close Call!!!

Just posting this for proof and evidence of proper heating and controls, and so you may have the internal joy of saying "i told you so" without any harm
Ive posted my setup since I got it and have recieved a lot of great advice. That advice ultimately saved not only my snake but my whole family and house!!!

I purchased my setup and my BP from a local shop. They are a great shop and generally knowledgeable but the day I was in, the resident snake expert was out. With loose guidance and the look of a kid in a candy store, I bought a pretty setup with matching parts, and some lights i figured would do the trick, sadly i didnt think it through fully and almost burnt my house down.

After my very first post here I was advised of using thermostats and other temperature controls. This forced me to redo my lighting and heating setup, and that is when I realized how close I was to losing everything.
The light hood I was sold was designed for specific bulbs and had low watt restrictions. None of my bulbs fell within spec, and i was actually melting the housings and warping my lid!!!
I dont know how many days it would have taken to have a complete meltdown, and I thank God and this group for that!
Im now using a thermostat and a dimmer with a ceramic dome and CHE, and all is well that ends well, but what a scary realization!

Thanks again for the advice and guidance from this group, its not always easy to hear you're doing it wrong, but theres usually a good reason to know it. Thanks and God Bless!!!
