What genes are not supposed to be crossed with the spider gene ?
Hey Guys my male bumble bee is ready for the season next year and I’m looking to buy an adult female to have him breed with .
First question is what genetics do not cross with the spider gene. I know I can’t go spider x spider , but I’ve also heard I can’t cross HGW(hidden gene woma) with the spider gene. I saw a “wanna bee” on morphmarket which is a hgw x bumblebee. Which I thought wasn’t possible.
My second question is , say I breed my bee too a banana and I get a bp that shows only the pastel/banana. Would that baby still have the spider gene ? Or is that only with the recessive genes like albino, pied Exc?
Third question is what genes do you think I should add to my collection to utilize my breeding potential.
My current collection
Juvenile-Female yellow belly,coral glow/banana
Juvenile-Female pewter,mojave,coralglow/banana
Adult-Male bumble bee
Looking to spend around $800.00

There are a lot of people that believe spiderxspider can produce a super spider which is lethal so I would avoid that. Hgw also has a neuro issue attached to ot so I would avoid stacking that with spider. Basically knowing spider has a neuro aspect to it I would avoid any genes that also have neuro issues associated just to avoid doubling your odds of having problems.
As far as what to pair it with, banana could be a cool gene to thrown in there, it is co dominant so you only need one for a chance to replicate it. Another co dominant gene I like is ghi. Not sure how it will mix with what you have but you can look it up on one of the many calculators online.
1.0 Albino Black Pastel Pinstripe BP "Menolo"
0.1 Albino Spider BP "Ginger"
0.1 Black Pastel Het. Albino "Jasmine"
1.0 Woma python "Stitch"
0.1 Woma python "Milo"
0.1 Woma python "Millie"
1.0 Blackhead Python
0.1 Blackhead Python
0.1 Blackhead Python
1.0 Black South African Boerboel "Midas"
0.1 Chocolate Lab "Coco"

1. http://www.owalreptiles.com/issues.php
2. Spider is a dominant gene, so if it has the spider gene you'll see a headstamp/pattern/wobble, etc. It's not a recessive gene, so if the snake has it, it will visually display it.
3. I'm not a breeder, but my advice would be to get what you like and want to work with.
0.1 Red Axanthic P. regius | Mazikeen
0.1 E. climacophora | Lan Fan

Basically anything in the spider/Neuro complex, as listed on owal website. When you combine any of them bad things happen.
As far as what to pair with your snakes, it's up to what you like, but if they were my snakes, I'd probably get a male with enchi and or ghi because enchi looks great with banana and ghi looks great with Mojave. Fire enchi could be a good choice as well.
As far as getting another female, a fire pinstripe or fire pastel calico could really mesh well with your male bumblebee.

There are many who say nobody should be breeding Spider morphs full stop ..
I just collect and have no interest in snake breeding..
I do have a stunning Caramel Albino Spider though ... zero head wobble !

I don't think it is a fully underdstood problem yet sadly. Would I do spider to spider? possibly once out of curiosity. Would I do spider to woma? probably not. Would I do champagne to spider? definitely not.

If you breed spider to spider the babies won’t survive . I was also told hidden gene woma to spider was a no no , but I saw a hgw spider on morph market

Not entirely acurate - no homozygous spiders have been reported but there are viable offspring from the pairing. The hgw and champagne morph mixtures however have a higher percentage chances to throw absoluteloy train wreck animals.

The local breeder near me told me that if you bread spider to spider the babies would not survive ? Your saying this isn’t true ?
