    Animal plastics cage/ flexwatt question

Ive purchased an animal plastics cage and it comes with flexwatt. My question is, how do I regulate the temperature inside the cage when my thermostat probe is going to be placed on the outside of the cage under the flexwatt? The thermostat would technically only read out and regulate the flexwatt temperature throughout the day and not read or maintain the internal cage hotspot temperature.

The thermostat probe will regulate the temperature of the flexwatt itself, and then floor temperature where the flexwatt is positioned will either be approximately the same temperature or slightly lower. Use the thermostat to pick your desired temperature and then use a temperature gun to measure the temperature on the inside floor of the cage. You can then adjust the thermostat to compensate for whatever drop there may be. People programming their thermostat to be slightly higher than their desired temperature is not uncommon.

Is that going to be your only source of heat ?

    is your room heated ?

youd need a thermometer inside the cage and you’d need to make sure the hot spot was around 90.

Based on the temp of your room that may or may not be enough for ambient temps.
