    Lorex Plastics?

We are currently using a 20L aquarium for our BP, but will likely be changing over to a tub or AP PVC in the future (especially if my husband keeps talking about adding to our collection, lol). As I was researching various options, I came across Lorex Plastics. Has anyone ever used these habitats?

Specifically I'm thinking of the front-opening with doors, which range from 20 to 45 gallons. They're made out of acrylic and do have a screen on top, but it's a much smaller looking screen than aquariums and would probably be easier to regulate temps/humidity. I posted a link below. Please let me know if anyone has experience with this company and/or if you think this might be a viable option. Thanks!

    Lorex Plastics?

    Welcome to the forum.

I have not used those, but they do look nice. Why even consider them though? You can get an AP T- 8 for $150 , your 20 gal is $165. The T- 8 is more roomy than the 20gal since it is a 4x2.

For more height you you can get the T-10 for $195. The 45 gal is $265! Are you crazy? AP or other comparable cages are the much better way to go.

Take it from a guy who spent a ton of wasted money on tanks before discovering AP. They just make life sooo much easier.

I like your setup! And thanks for your input. 😊 You brought up some good points, especially about the size/cost factor, and we probably will end up going with AP (yay stackable!). I just wish turn-around time was a little quicker since we'd likely do the T10. A T10 should be plenty big enough for an adult BP, right?

These seem like they would be really crappy for snakes in my opinion and you could get an actual pvc enclosure for about the same price or a little more. These seem really cheaply made and I don't see how they could possibly hold humidity very well with that big screen on top...

Yes, the T-10 works well for an adult BP.

It it also is a little easier to clean than a T-8 since it has little bit more height.

Know some people that used them- don’t

Quality of workmanship highly variable, including warping of acrylic.

What made you choose AP? There’s quite a few vendors these past couple of years. Makes my head hurt going through all their sites.

First off, website presentation is huge to me. Some would show cages all decorated, then no pics of them empty. Some expect you to email them with questions rather than have common sense things explained on their site. Monster cages never even returned my phone call. I didn’t like some of the detailing on the Constrictors Northwest cages. And of course other places were just too high priced.
BoaMaster didn’t have the sizes that I wanted.

About the only other cage I liked was the Boaphile. In my photo is a Bosphile on the top right. I love the thick full drop down doors and the beefy clasps. But the main material is really thin. Mine is sway backed pretty bad. The thin material makes installing your own RHP difficult if you still want to stack. I do like the one piece design with no assembly. But bottom line, they did not have the right size for me.

The wait time is horrible on AP, but I know that going in and plan accordingly. However I’m at over 5 months now on my current order and starting to get antsy.

I’m certainly going to have a RHP put in mine by the cage manufacturer.

I was pretty set on Northwest, long wait there too.

Haven’t figured out if sliding doors or drop down is better for feeding, esp when the snakes get pretty excited to eat, quick to strike etc.

Stackable is important to me, as is how thick the walls of the cage really are.

I have cages with drop down doors, swing out, glass sliding, and plastic sliding. For me, feeding is not an issue with either of them.

The only doors I dislike are the plastic sliding doors for large snakes. I’ve had two different snakes bow them out and escape and one totally blew the doors and tracks out.

Cleaning is easier with the swing out and drop down. But overall, I like the nice solid beefy feeling of glass sliding doors which make them my preference.
