In my experience, if the ball python is extremely comfortable because the husbandry is spot on, then they will just hang out in their hides and not do very much. If they are not comfortable or something is wrong with their environment, such as security issues or temperature issues, then they will travel around and look for a way to get out.

Disclaimer: I don’t really pay much attention to them in the middle of the night when I’m sleeping, so they may be crawling all over the place for all I know. LOL

They will all vary but the more branches in there the more they will climb ..

I find mine never did more or less moving around based on the "decor".

They move around when they want to move around, either around, under or on top of things.

With Jag (whom I've had for 8 years) it is when he is getting ready to eat again. Most of the time he is content in his hide and you don't see much of him. After about 10 to 12 days after eating he comes out. Just has a look around. Not actively hunting yet, more of a relaxed moving about. For the next few days he will sometimes hide for a day or two, then come out for a night or so. Usually 2 or 3 weeks after eating he will come out with a purpose. He will move quicker, he will track movement. You can just tell..he is ready !

If you have a Ball Python that cruises relentlessly, usually that means something is "off".

She's definitely not relentless, I just worry. She has little phases, sometimes just for 10 minutes sometimes for a few hours. She doesn't seem to follow a day/night schedule (probably because of mommy and daddy's work schedules).

We've only had her three months so I am still learning her behaviors.

You will soon learn her routines

No matter how you house her, just make sure the husbandry is right on spot, offer lots of privacy and don't have her to exposed. And you will be good to go.

She will soon feel completely at home
