Ok you should be able to get some outstanding photos with it. Go to settings->camera and check to make sure HDR is set to auto. I also usually leave the flash off. Additionally, when you aim the camera if you tap the area you want to focus on a yellow square will appear around that point and it will help adjust lighting and focus. The built in editing features for photos is pretty good and allows you to adjust brightness, contrast, exposure, color temp and saturation, but I also occasionally use an app called Afterlight. If you have a clean background and good quality lighting those have the biggest effect. Natural lighting is always best if you can swing it.
