Random question about snake eyes

Ok, so I've read in several places that when you spray anything on a snake (like mite killer, virosan, etc) that you should try to keep it from the snake's eyes.. but snake eyes are covered by the eye cap, and aren't a mucous membrane like our eyes are, right? Wouldn't that mean that their eyes aren't sensitive like ours? I know that snakes that aren't headshy don't mind their eyes being touched. Makes sense since they have no eyelids, they need to be able to have things touch their eyes.

I think that it can go in their nostrils, and they breath in too much chemical fumes, or it can still sting with the eye caps on.

Yeah, the nostrils definitely, but I was just curious.

I don't know about the not getting stuff on the eyes theory. When there is a stuck shed one of the commonly used meathods of removing it is to rub mineral oil on the eye so I would suppose that they are not porous eyecaps. Maybe someoene else knows better

i have no idea...ive noticed several times where one of my snakes would rub thier eyes on my hand and didnt seem to bother them. but for the whole nostril thing i would try to avoid spraying anything but water on the head.
