I have a 15Kw gas generator that I will just plug into the panel box and back feed the entire house. I just haven't had time to complete the project since changing to the new panel box this summer. I guess I should get on this.

The breaker the plug is connected to has a sliding mechanism that only allows the breaker to be turned on when the main breaker is off, as to not back feed the grid and cause harm to anyone working on the lines.

They actual just sit on the ground. Mine is sitting on a concrete pad that they brought out preformed.

It can be taken with you by simply unhooking it and loading it up. That will take four guys, more because if size than weight. You'll just have to get it reinstalled.

If you do decide to leave it with the house it only helps your home's value.

The only time they hard mount it to the ground is in tornado areas.

Sounds like you may have done some of the work yourself... Here in NY its hard to do much to your own electrical, the Power authority has to turn off your Power then send a inspector before they will restore it... Thats all I need is to screw something up they wont pass.. My Girls would have a heart attack without Hot Water and Hair Dryers hahahahaha

I let Lowe's do everything. They had it installed in 4-5 hours. You could tell the team had done plenty of them before.

We've used it several times so far. Usually just 20 minutes to an hour but a few times longer. It was really nice to not have to alter our day.

Thats what I'm thinking. It isn't like the power goes out for than once if that a year here in NY but id rather be Safe than sorry.

Maximum you will be able to run is a 7kw generator with a 30amp switch. It does look like a nifty switch tho.

Glad I do electrical for a living, cost me under a hundred for all the parts to back feed my house. One day I might go the automatic whole house generator, but at the rate of progression with solar and battery packs.... I might not.
