    Is my heating setup okay?

Hello, I would like some opinions on my setup. I have a 34 quart tub with a Zoomed UTH and a CHE about 16'' above the tub, both have thermostats. I have the CHE probe in the middle of the cage above the substrate, set at 81° and reads at 77°-79°. My UTH probe is under the tub attached to the UTH, it is set at 96°, my separate thermometer probe is under the substrate an reads 95°. But when I temp gun the top of the hotspot substrate it only reads 79°-87° (the substrate is only 0.5'' at that spot) . Is this okay? Will my bp know to burrow if it wants more heat? Im not worried or anything, my girl seems pretty healthy and normal. Im just new and would like some "expert" opinions.

The substrate over the hotspot should be 1/4 inch at most.

I would also hang the che tstat probe on the side of the tub or dangle it from the lid so the snake can not move it, last on it, or soak it.

Also my personal preference for hotspots is 85-88. 95 is just not needed. Save some power and some risk.

Ive actually thought about thinning out the substrate more but i thought she might like to burrow a bit (ive actually see her do this once), ill definitely do that tho. Ill also poke the CHE probe through the lid an let it dangle, probably keep it in place with hot glue. Seriously great tips, I appreciate it.

I keep my substrate deep everywhere except over the uth. 1/4 inch over it and about 3 inches everywhere else.

what does your substrate surface temperature read on your cool side with a temp gun? mine is less than 75 so i moved the cool hide closer to the middle of the tub.

You should also be reading the temp of the actual surface, not the substrate.

My entire room is heated so it's usually around 77. I would get yours up to 75 at least.

Re: Is my heating setup okay?

thanks KMG, took your advice an waited a few hours. hot side tstat is now set at 92° and surface temp is 88-90° now. ambiant temp is now 80° an my cool hide is in the middle kinda an surface temps are around 77°. my room is real cold so i got my tub surrounded by insulation board on 3 sides, so the far end where its not covered is still floating between 73-75° but she never goes there. im alot more confident in my setup now.

im using a digital thermometer with the probe on the actual surface, also double checked it with the temp gun to make sure its reading accurately. then i use the temp gun to measure the substrate surface
