    Wooden hide, possibly cedar??

Greetings! I recently purchased a carved wooden figure during my travels in Mexico that I would like to use as a hide in my ball pythons cage. I am working on having the type of wood identified since I am aware that cedar is harmful to my snake. My question is, if it does turn out to be a cedar carving would a water based clear coat, or some sort of sealant be sufficient in order to keep the harmful effects of cedar from my snake. Any advice appreciated! I apologize for the random question!

Honestly wouldn’t even take the chance, but that’s my 2 cents

I wouldn't risk it, regardless. There are plenty of other hide options to choose from that you know are safe.

Also, what shape is it? I'm guessing if it's a carving it wouldn't make a proper hide.
