Not sure if I've ever posted a photo of my super dwarf retic on this forum, his name is 'Sunny'. This photo was taken yesterday, he is my two year old purple albino (100% het anery) retic. He is 37.5% super dwarf, 50% Jampea dwarf, and 12.5% mainland. He is much smaller than my 50% Jampea dwarf female, maybe 1/2 of the size. I feed him a large or jumbo rat once every week or two. I keep him in an ARS boa rack (ARS-9706) which at this point is a perfect size for him.
I bought this guy locally a couple years ago, he was super aggressive when I bought him and would snap at anything that came near him. When I first got him he was super wild and would pee and musk and take off like a rocket! For the first year and a half he would occasionally snap at my snake hook when I just tapped him on the side letting him know that I wanted to move him. Then when I started breeding him with my female retic a few months ago he really mellowed out. Now I just use the hook to break his feeding mode, but most times I can pick him up without a hook and now he never snaps at me or the hook. I still don't trust him 100% though so I keep his head away from me as much as possible. I think breeding helped tame him down since I rotate him in and out of the female tub every week, the extra handling helps to build confidence. Plus my female is super tame and never snaps or even jumps when I mess around with her, I think her confidence in me has rubbed of on him.
Enjoy the photos!
