How many lights do you need?

I've been reading a whole bunch of different articles and pages and they all have differing information on what types of lights you need, and are generally pretty vague on how many. I know the day/night cycle of hours and all that, but what ALL lights do you need?

Also, how do you manage temperature/humidity?

This depends on what animal you are getting... Different species of reptiles need different types of lighting, and different setups.

If this is about a ball python, they do not actually need bright lights. But they should have some ambient light during the day to keep their circadian rhythm. You can use LED lights.
