So, due to your responses and the behavior of your snake, I'd say that the temperatures are off--either too hot, or too cold. The snake is trying to find a place that's cooler (if the tank is too hot) or a place that's warmer (if the tank is too cold).
Ball pythons need access to a 88F-92F area on the floor, and a side of the tank that's between 79F-84F. This way, the snake can thermoregulate, since they have no mechanisms of warming up or cooling down for themselves--they're cold-blooded and rely solely on their environment for their internal functions.
You're gonna need a probe thermometer, or a temp gun. The thermometers with the dials on them are frequently inaccurate by up to 20 degrees. Besides, you can't tell whether or not your snake's hotspot is 90F, 80F, or 100F (which is dangerous to them); since those thermometers can only measure ambient temps.
Luckily, probe thermometers only cost $5-$10 at Walmart or on Amazon. Most PetCos and PetSmarts sell a ZooMed one that's $12. Let us know if you need any more help![]()
