I keep my crix in one of those Homz plastic containers. I cut a hole in the lid, duct tapes some screen on it, and the crix won't stop growing... Guess it's what I'm feeding them.. darned little boogers...

Yea, I keep my mealies in the fridge, so if they do get out, they are just in the fridge. And they wont move when they are cold (well not as much) so I am not too worried.
I so would of ripped the carpet up by hand if I had those disgusting mealworms in them! UJUUUGHGHHH!!1 Thats DISGUSTING!!

breeding questions
I don't keep the mealies or waxies in the fridge, the waxies die and the mealies don't eat and grow, which is what I want. Both seem to die quicker if kept too cold since the recommended temp for them to be at is between 45-55, and our refrigerators are much colder than that.
I buy 1000 crix at a time, .5" ones, and let them eat and grow while I'm using them so they are nice and healthy when I feed them.

Yikes! Those big crickets kinda creep me out. They're so much faster than the small ones.
Mlededee......Mealies in the carpet? Did your parents ever find out????

When I first started raising crickets, I made the dumb mistake of leaving the lid off of the bin I had them in for a minute while I did something else. Well.. when I came back, there was just a tipped bin, a terrified looking cat, and not a cricket in sight.
I was not happy to say the least.
And the cat didn't show her face in my room for several weeks.

Wow!
My cat goes nuts if I leave a bag of crix on the table. he will paw the bag around and try biting into it (until I yell "Inky!" and he runs off in terror.)

Yeah, from now on I will be locking my cat up whenever I pull crickets out or put crickets in. My cat pounced on the bag I was carefully collecting gecko food in. She killed one cricket and let another loose. That cricket is somewhere behind my stove.
Although if she was covered in circkets, she might freak out.

Since the incident, my cat is terrified of everything in my room.
I gassed some rats with Co2, and they were sitting dead in the large clear gassing chamber. Wolfie (the cat) walks by, freezes, her tail puffs up like a raccoon's.. then she hissed and growled at the dead rats!
Live rats don't bother her though... wacko.
