Poor Shelby has blister disease. I posted a thread awhile ago about it, but she looks so awful, and I'm getting depressed because of it.
I took her to the vet and she prescribed baytril injections. I gave her ten of those.. she has sprouted more blisters, some just below her butt, which I hear is real bad and some at the tip of her tail. I treat her with peroxide and betadine 2x daily and change her substrate (butcher paper) every time I do it.. but her breathing is quick and shallow.. I feel so bad. Some of the scabs she had formed over the popped blisters that started to heal are peeling off again. She didn't eat last time I offered (last saturday) Just before she got sick I decided to switch her to feedings every 2 weeks, so she hasn't eaten for 3 weeks.. 4 if she refuses again tonight.
I did see her drink a few days ago, I think that is a good sign at least, and she seems to have energy..
But if anyone has been through this before.. how was it? What did you do?
And most of all.. what did I do wrong? I keep her clean.. one day she did sit in a poop for longer than I wanted since she decided to leave it just before I had to go to work. A week or so after was when I noticed the blisters. Just after a shed too..
Sorry for this long post, I'm just so worried about her.

Aw, the poor thing. She must be feeling so much discomfort. This is probably causing her lots of stress, so she still may not eat. I wouldn't worry about that. Ball pythons can go for a while without eating, I'd concentrate on getting her better. How long have you been treating this?

Around 2 weeks now I think.. I didn't write down when it first started. Probably should have.
I just talked to my vet on the phone. She's getting me some other stuff to try for her.. hope it works.

Do you have any silvadene cream? It's good for burns/blisters, works wonders. I would go to walmart or your nearest pharmacy and see if they have it.

I think that's the stuff my vet just gave me.

Oh, well good Just be sure to rub it in pretty good, or it won't do a very good job, and it would just be wiped off when she moves around. If you could wrap gauze around a snake that would be great, but ya can't...

Oh my gosh.. I can't imagine. lol
I'll be applying it 2x daily, and I got 7 more injections for her. She is so good for them though. She kind of lets out a hiss, but it's more like a gasp when I stick her, but she doesn't try to bite or anything.

Wow, I am really sad to hear about your snake.
I am wondering how blister disease starts and what causes it? Maybe someone (meaning me) needs to go Google for awhile..
