But by far the best pet I've or will ever own.

This^^^ every time you open the cage and are not offering food give a tap/rub with the hook. Eventually they figure out that the hook means interaction is about to occur and not food. Will save you a lot of blood and frustration in the long run.

I tried a hook once with Caesar when he was a baby and it was the only time i ever saw him get angry. He opened his mouth coiled up and hissed. I switched over to using a twisted up paper towel as 'the hook' when he was baby and it worked awesome. Now though i dont have to use it as he looks before trying to eat now lol.

So you can use anything to tap him with. You just want to break his feeding response, doesnt have to be an actual snake hook. Even a paper towel tube will work.

Retics always want to eat especially babies. Caesar was getting a small rat, chick or quail every 5 days as a 5 month old baby. He quickly graduated to medium rats, chicks, quails and then large rats or quails. Then jumbo rats and 2XL guinea pigs.

And i was going to guess platinum as that was my next choice if i didnt get Caesar. Was going to pick up a 50% Platinum tiger female from Shannon Roepke but i got a really good deal on Caesar. Plus Caesar is just awesome. Only snake i have ever seen that is 'needy' and wants attention lol.
