I think he's talking about white lips in specific. It's an advanced snake which requires advanced husbandry.

They're actually not difficult to set up as long as you get the proper enclosure, heat sources, t-stat, etc. but they can be very twitchy about being handled. For many it's not a matter of if they will make you will bleed but when.

I was talking about white lips specifically, not all snakes. They aren't the best snakes to start with.

I feel like this thread has stirred off some.

I am so sorry this happened to you and your snakes. I'm sending good vibes your way.

So the situation may be more complicated than I first thought. Dexter went to the vet today and the results were promising that he would make a full recovery. The weird part comes from the wound itself. It didn't really look like a dog bite to me, and it turns out that the roommate who owns the dog may have possibly hurt a dog that lived there before. I can't share much more than that at the moment. I know I said I didn't want to share the picture, but can someone tell me if it looks like this wound could have been caused by a dog? Or what else could have caused it?

Yes that can be a dog bite. Dog bites puncture then tear as they clamp down and drag away.

Possible a dog bite..how big is the dog? And how did the dog even come in contact with Dexter? I'm really sorry about your babies and make sure not to blame yourself? You couldn't have known. I'd get on the phone and start asking some questions because it just seems a bit odd.

Don’t feel bad about posting the picture, it really isn’t as bad-looking as others posted in the past.
