Small Space Heater?
I am looking for a small, affordable space heater that won't start a fire. It would be used to bring the temps up in a small closet. Ambient temps sit at 70 degrees right now

Re: Small Space Heater?
Most of us use the oil filled heater that look like the old fashioned radiators. Be sure to get one with a tip over safety switch and buy a thermostat for it. I recommend the thermostat from spyder robotics.

I use infrared quartz heater, which is state-of-the-art in efficiency. Like most things, you get what you pay for, oil-filled heaters and infrared quartz heaters are both super-efficient at space heating as long as you buy a good model.

What size closet are we talking about? It might not be worth the effort or realistically safe to get a space heater if it is say a 6 foot by 6 foot confined space.

It would have to be on a thermostat so as not to overheat that small a space. There are also very small heaters designed for spaces like bathrooms that the OP could look into.

It's a really small space. I don't even know if I could realistically heat a space small safely. If not I'll just stay with tanks. I don't have exact measurements but around 4' deep and 6' wide
I would clean it out completely first before having a Hester in there

Re: Small Space Heater?
The smallest space heater I have ever messed with is 250 watt. A closet the size you describe would get too hot with a space heater that size. A 60 or 100 watt rough service bulb low in the closet would surprise you how much it would heat it up. If I was going to warm a closet i would look into building my own radiant heater from non-regulating heat tape. Get a 3 to 4 foot piece and wrap it around a large clay pot without over lapping the tape. Hook your heat source to a thermostat what ever means you choose. You are starting at 70 degrees so it wont take much. Most important part is experiment, do it right, be safe, and stay small with your heat source.

I use a space heater in my 10' x 20' snake room. To keep it in check I point it at an air filter, similar to a box fan but it blows the air up instead of sideways, probably about the same airflow as a box fan on high. Then I put the thermostat sensor right above the air filter so it only turns on for a short period of time. Takes a little bit to get the room up to temp but it's rock solid once it gets there and never overheats. You just need a fan or something to move that space heater heat around a bit faster and put the thermostat right in the fan output so you don't get hot spots.

You could try a CHE on a pole and raise it higher than normal over the top of the tank. That picture looks a little larger than 6x4 but if it is a space heater, even a small one would easily overpower the space.
The image below is what I am talking about. You would be surprised how efficient these can be in such a small space. I would still buy one of those lamp dimmer switches to keep it under control.
This is the type of dimmer I mean. You can find them at home improvement stores.

Re: Small Space Heater?
Oil filled heaters work great . I also have a few vornado units which work well for smaller sized rooms .
