    Handling

    Hello Everybody!
We have had our beep for about a month now and she has had 3 successful feedings with us. We have been increasing how much we are handling her and she is adjusting fine. However, two days ago we took her out of her tank and after about 5 minutes of her ‘splorin my lap and arm... she constricted my hand fairly tight. I️ got scared so I️ put her back in the tank. Is this normal? Was she going to have me for lunch?

They tend to constrict around objects to help keep them from falling. My neck is often the victim of such constrictions.

Nothing to worry about. Don't forget, handling is not just for your snake but for you as well to learn their moods and get more comfortable with you around them.

No she wasnt trying to eat you unless she struck first then constricted. She was probably just holding on tightly Mine held on tightly when I first started handling him. Now I'm guessing since he trusts us more he doesn't feel the need to hold on as tightly.

Sounds like she may have just felt startled or she was afraid of falling. Nothing to worry about from what you explained.
